Every person has a quality or trait that makes them distinct. The same is true for businesses. Whether you are a person, business, or person owning a business, the skill is in knowing how to draw out and capitalize on those strengths, values, and unique capabilities.

In this episode of "How’s Your ePresence,” we chat with an individual who is exceptional at this. Rebecca Brizi, of R G Brizi,  examines businesses to discover what special components they bring to the table and builds a plan for all those separate ingredients to function well together. Since 2017, Rebecca has worked freelance providing consulting, planning, and process creation for small and medium sized businesses who are establishing their market, pursuing new growth strategies, or simply have to get in control of their many moving parts.

“You need to figure out what you’re great at. We need to constantly work as employees and companies to stay focused.” - Rebecca Brizi

Social Media Updates

  • Last week a listener asked us the question, “Why should I connect with every person who connects with me on LinkedIn?” Our answer- you shouldn’t, necessarily. Examine why you’re on LinkedIn- where are you now and where you want to be in 5 to 10 years. If a potential connection is someone you could do business with, now or in the future, or, if they could bring business to you, accept the connection. Otherwise, it isn’t necessary.
  • Pete Davies, the senior director of consumer products at LinkedIn, discussed in Fast Company, simple fixes that can drastically affect your success on LinkedIn. Some of the highlights:
    • Profiles with a photo get seen 21 more times more often than those without
    • Professionals who have their current position described in their profile are discovered up to 16 times more in recruiter searches.
    • People who complete a LinkedIn Skill Assessment are 30 percent more likely to get hired.
  • Snapchat created a new feature called ‘Snapchat Cameos.’ It allows users to post their face on someone else’s body. In addition, they are creating an interactive advertisement program that lets users engage with ads.

Questions discussed with Rebecca:

  • You coined the phrase, “strategy is not a soundbite.” What does this mean?
  • How do you actually develop a business strategy and make it part of the fabric of an organization?
  • How do you incorporate your values into the way you market a business? Moreover, after marketing, what do you do with values?
